What Parents Need to Know about Testing

This presentation provides a parent-friendly overview of the testing that is used to determine if a child is gifted and talented. It discusses how the testing works so parents can better understand the results. Considerations for testing children who are 2e are also briefly be discussed.

About the presenter

Dr. Gelbar is an Associate Research Professor at the University of Connecticut in the Department of Educational Psychology. Previously, he was an assistant professor at the University of Connecticut Health Center (School of Medicine) and the research director for the UConn University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. He earned his Ph. D. in Educational Psychology (with concentrations in School Psychology, Special Education, and Gifted/Talented Education) from the University of Connecticut in 2013. He is a licensed psychologist, a national certified school psychologist, and a board-certified behavior analyst at the doctoral level.
