Poster Presentation 13 — Believe to See: The Search for All Gifted People in a Public School — Sheila Torma Rodrigues
Monday, May 20, 2024, 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Student Union Ballroom, Rooms 330/331
This presentation shares the results of work done by a special education department at a public school in Florianópolis, Brazil; in this school, students are screened for giftedness in the initial years of elementary school, and students are then sent to creativity workshops. This project, which began in 2019 with 54 students, was aimed at searching for high potential in all students; from participating in the workshops, 20 students are already showing behaviors indicative of giftedness. This work is positively evaluated by the school community and the municipal education network, serving as an example for other schools.
