Monday, May 20, 2024, 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Student Union Ballroom, Rooms 330/331
School leaders face multiple challenges to advancing equity and excellence in schools with larger percentages of economically vulnerable students. This poster will share findings from a cross-case study of three Title I elementary schools in one district where leaders have been able to advance paradigms of talent development and advanced differentiation through the lens of leaders’ sensemaking and sensegiving. The study explored internal and external influences on school leaders’ views of the conflicted terrain of gifted education, as well as their attempts to portray a coherent landscape for equity and excellence to the broader school community.
