New Fairfield Public Schools—CT

Unique teaching opportunity: Teach social studies or language arts to identified gifted students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade. Our gifted program is designed for students to receive one of their core academic classes daily, in a group of their peers, while spending the rest of their day in heterogeneous classes. This allows time to address their unique social and emotional needs, their emerging leadership skills and their desire for independence and personalization in their learning. In addition to teaching in the Middle School, you will collaborate with another teacher of the gifted who works with students in grades 3, 4, and 5 and participate in our multi-faceted identification process. You must hold certification in either English/Language Arts or Social Studies, either 4-8 or 7-12. Ideally you have strong pedagogical knowledge about gifted and talented students and their educational needs. For more information about this opportunity, please feel free to contact the Assistant Superintendent, Julie Luby. Online Application (Applitrack)
